Maiden venture in the production of palm kernel oil & palm kernel expellers.

Commenced refining of crude palm oil (CPO) with the distinction of being the first Malaysian refinery to embark on physical refining of CPO (ceased operations in 1996).

Venture into property development activities.

1980
Ventured into production of oloechemicals with the distinction of being the pioneer to use exclusively palm based raw materials to manufacture fatty acids & glycerine – 30,000 MT/annum.

1981
Shares of Palmco Holdings Berhad (now called IOI Oleochemicals Industries Berhad) listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now called Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad).

1983
Acidchem won the “New and Improved Product Development” award from the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers for 99% Lauric Acid.

1988
Acidchem’s Second Series of Fatty Acid and Glycerine Plant came on stream – 40,000 MT/annum. Entered into a 30% joint-venture with Kao Corporation of Japan to form Fatty Chemical (M) Sdn Bhd.

1990
Acidchem’s Hydrogen Plant came on stream – 300Nm3/hour.
Acidchem’s Oleic Acid Plant started – 8,000 MT/annum.

1992
Acidchem’s Third Series of Fatty Acid and Glycerine Plant came on stream – 70,000 MT/annum.

1994
Commenced production of Soap Noodles through Derichem.
Acidchem’s Fatty Acid Hydrogenation Plant came on stream – 33,000 MT/annum.
Acidchem’s Flaking Plants started – 42,000 MT/annum.

1995
Acidchem USA Inc established in New Jersey, USA.
Derichem’s Second Soap Noodles Plant started.
Acidchem’s Second Hydrogen Plant came on stream – 500Nm3/hour.
Acidchem & Derichem achieved ISO 9002 accreditation.
Ventured into production of Stearates via Stabilchem.
Venture into oil palm plantation through Palmco Plantation (Sabah) Sdn Bhd.

1996
Acidchem’s for the Series of Fatty Acid Plants came on stream – 90,000 MT/annum.
Acidchem’s Second Hydrogenation Plant came on stream – 52,000 MT/annum.
Entered into a 30% joint-venture with Kao Corporation of Japan to form Kao Plasticizer (M) Sdn Bhd.

1997
Stabilchem achieved ISO 9002 accreditation.
Palmco became an associated company of IOI Corporation Berhad.

2001
Palmco became a subsidiary of IOI Corporation Berhad.

2002
Acidchem’s Fifth Series of Fatty Acids & Glycerine Plants came on the stream – 120,000 MT/annum. Biggest producer of Fatty Acids & Glycerine in Asia with a total capacity of 350,000 MT/annum.
Expanded oil palm plantation business through acquisition of Unipamol (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Pamol Plantations Sdn Bhd. Total plantation hectarage increased to 29,000 hectares.

2003
Palmco Holdings Berhad changed its name to IOI Oleochemicals Industries Sdn Bhd to better reflect its identity as a member of the IOI Group.

2004
Derichem and Stabilchem achieved HACCP/GMP certification.

2005
Acidchem achieved HACCP/GMP certification.
Acidchem, Derichem and Stabilchem attained ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 accreditations.

2006
IOI Oleochemical Industries Berhad is privatized by its parent company IOI Corporation Berhad.

2007
IOI emerged as the world's largest oleochemical producer following its acquisition of Pan Century Edible Oils and Pan Century Oleochemicals.
IOI Oleo entered a 40% joint-venture with Peter Greven of Germany to form Peter Greven Asia Sdn Bhd.
