What is Oleochemicals
Oleochemicals, derived from natural oils and fats including palm, coconut and animal sources, provide an alternative to petroleum-based products.
These compounds serve as key ingredients in soaps, detergents, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and various industrial applications. Responsibly sourced oleochemicals represent a sustainable substitute for conventional petrochemicals.

2011
IOI Pan-Century Oleochemicals Sdn Bhd, IOI Pan-Century Edible Oils Sdn Bhd, first RSPO certification.
IOI Acidchem Sdn Bhd certified with RSPO SCCS.
2012
Acidchem, Derichem and Pan-Century Oleochemicals achieved RSPO SCCS certification (expanded supply chain recognition).
Multiple awards and responsible-care recognitions for environmental and safety performance.
2013
Introduction of solar photovoltaic (PV) energy harvesting under a “Go Green” initiative.
Continued awards recognising innovation and environmental stewardship.
2014 - 2015
IOI Esterchem(M) Sdn Bhd certified with RSPO SCCS.
ISO & food-safety certifications enhanced production quality and traceability
2016 - 2017
IOI Oleo GmbH certified with RSPO SCCS.
Multiple ISO certifications (ISO 50001 energy management; ISO 14001 environmental) achieved by Acidchem and Esterchem, indicating sustained EMS and environmental performance improvements.
2018
IOI Acidchem won a Gold Award for an energy-efficient vapour absorption chiller project, demonstrating investment in energy-saving technologies.
2019
IOI has achieved another important milestone in its sustainability performance by making good progress in the Carbon Disclosure Programme ("CDP") 2018 survey, organised by CDP, a not-for-profit organisation that promotes corporate transparency and the measurement of environmental action.
Two of IOI Oleo operation upgrades Occupational Health & Safety ("OHS") Management System to ISO 45001:2018.
IOI Oleo conducted a Sustainability Steering Committee Meeting to discuss on matters such as sustainability performance against targets and goals, policies, resources, major projects, etc.
2020
IOI released its revised SPOP. The latest revision was based on industry's best practices and inputs from engagements with relevant stakeholders. The policy has been further expanded to strengthen our commitments on women empowerment, biodiversity and NDPE, etc.
IOI's Responsible Sourcing Guidelines ("RSG") was also introduced to give further clarity on IOI's roles and commitments in the supply chain.
2023
IOI publicly committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) FLAG targets — linking sustainable production to science-based GHG reduction commitments and no deforestation in FLAG commodities.
2024
IOI Oleochemical manufacturing sites has prepared GHG reports for FY2024 and completed verification process for Scope 1, 2 and 3 in-line with ISO14064-1:2018 standard.
GHG emissions of oleochemical operations are verified under ISO14064-1:2018
2025
The near-term GHG emissions reduction targets have been successfully validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
